[TERA Online] Pegasus Express Tackles Castanics(01/26/2011)

Q: What is the significance of the shrouded rose? Why did the castanics choose that symbol to represent their clan?

A: In nature, the rose is both beautiful and dangerous to those who don't handle it with respect. Clan Castanic found that concept extremely appropriate.

Q: Given the darkness of Crescentia, why are the castanics not pale skinned?

A: Crescentia is a surprisingly well-lit town, with lots of trees and natural light. Many artists go there to work, in fact. In Castanica, however, despite the comforting shroud over the town, castanics don't go pale because they're just awesome. And they don't have to fake'n'bake.

Q: Are hair and horns available for separate selection?

A: Character customization options aren't finalized for TERA. This suggestion has been made in the past however!

Q: Do castanic females own any clothing that goes past the knee?

A: Quite a bit of it. Castanics are frugal, however, and they have very few items that go past both knees.

Q: Is there a lore reason for castanics to take 50% less fall damage?

A: Castanics are naturally adroit.

Q: If the castanics are an offshoot of the devan race, why are they about half the size of them?

A: Clan Castanic was always known as the runt clan.

Q: How much influence does Castanica and the castanic race have in the Valkyon Federation?

A: The castanics are equal partners in the Valkyon Federation. They are valued for their contributions as master crafters, as well as for their strength in reconnaissance and for their prolific intelligence networks. Castanics love secrets.

Q: Some castanics have markings on their horns, while some are left plain. Is there a meaning behind the markings?

A: Nothing known to the castanics. They're akin to beauty marks. Some have them, and some don't.

Q: Are the markings on castanics' bodies made of bone? Also, are the markings purely ornamental or are they part of their genetic make-up?

A: The markings on castanic skin are arcane scars. They were inflicted when their artifact, the Crown of Phanes, killed the god Balder. The feedback from that event scarred all adults and even now, the onset of puberty is marked by a painful episode in which every castanic develops the scars. Some scholars claim the scars are a divine curse, a Mark of Cain, if you will.

Q: Do baby castanics come out with horns or the bodily markings of the race?

A: Castanic infants start developing horns shortly after birth. The markings appear at the onset of puberty, as described above.

Q: Do amani talk to castanic characters with more respect than the other races (since they broke the "unbreakable" bond)?

A: The amani and castanics are very close. The amani ethos is similar in many ways to that of the castanics, and the two races share a zeal for life that exceeds that of the other races. Not to say there aren't squabbles or enemies among them, but if an aman saw both a castanic and a human hanging from a cliff by their fingertips, the castanic would likely be rescued first.

Q: How exactly DID the other races forgive them for helping to kill Balder? Judging by the lore, it seems like that was kind of a big deal to the other races…

A: It was a big deal indeed. Balder was beloved. The castanics claim they were duped by Ishara. Ishara has not been seen for some time, so who knows? In any case, there were several decades of persecution, but most of that was set aside when these horrifying blue and black creatures crawled out of the ground in northern Shara...

Q: What is the reach of a castanic, and how is it compared to the reach of a baraka or popori?

A: Typically, their reach extends to the end of their arms.

Q: Why do female castanics have such big hands and especially palms?

A: The better to slap the living crap out of others.

Q: Seeing how majority of the castanics despise gods, is the sect of castanics that follow the amani goddess Kaia discriminated by their own kind?

A: While the clan as a whole has rejected religion ("Gods are nothing but trouble!"), they're also highly individualistic. A castanic who chooses to worship a god might have to endure barbs and wisecracks, but it wouldn't be worse than that. Some may follow Kaia (or another god) individually, but there are no sects within the clan.

Q: Does walking speed vary by race and do castanics walk faster than the other races?

A: Well, their feet certainly have to move quicker to make up for their diminutive stature, but they're not particularly slower than any other race.

Q: How are the castanic male mages so muscular? Are they using performance enhancing magic?

A: It is magic. It is the magic of Tae-bo. That stuff is freaking amazing.
